Currently tooth images are mainly used in endodontics during root canal treatment. Prior to the treatment a dentist must check a tooth’s condition, determine the number of canals, and look for possible periapical lesions in the bone. After the treatment, the dentist takes another photo to check quality and precision of filling the canals.
At Markiewicz Clinic there is a state-of-the-art periapical X-ray machine and a special scanner to reduce greatly the sent X-ray radiation while taking X-ray photos. After the X-ray exposure, a special phosphor plate is entered into the scanner’s reader. Within seconds, a dentist has access to a digital image of the tooth on a computer screen.
